Spaceline Safety Director

Tim Logan is the Spaceline Safety Director at Virgin Galactic.  Tim is responsible for developing the Safety Management System for a Spaceline Operation.  Prior to this, Tim was Director of Safety at Virgin America and is the designated Part 119 Director of Safety for the airline.  Tim was also the Senior Director, Safety Risk Management for Southwest Airlines and held the Part 119 Director of Safety for SWA.

From 2003 to 2006, he was the Director, Flight Operational Safety at Southwest Airlines.  He has also worked for Northwest Airlines and the Air Line Pilots Association

Mr. Logan is the past Chairman and member of the A4A Safety Council.  He is a Fellow of the International Society of Air Safety Investigators (ISASI) and is currently the President of the Dallas/Ft. Worth Chapter of ISASI. Mr. Logan has participated in the investigations of numerous NTSB and ICAO accident investigations serving as Party Coordinator or as a Technical Group Member.  He has participated in industry efforts involving developing and establishing flight data recorder specifications and requirements, safety information exchanges, Flight Operations Quality Assurance (FOQA) and Aviation Safety Action Partnership (ASAP) program development.

Mr. Logan and has also been instrumental in the development of the Industry Aviation Safety Information and Analysis (ASIAS) safety information program which is a partnership between industry and government to share and analyze voluntary safety information to improve the safety of the National Airspace System. Mr. Logan holds a BS in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from The Ohio State University and an MBA from George Washington University, with emphasis in the Management of Science, Technology and Innovation.  He also holds a private pilot's license.
